We keep everything else (CLG Tech F and SH F AS IS). We will test the latest forum version at CLG SF. The CLG SF Chat on the side bar is still wonky. So I am updating that one to latest WP and latest forum version.
CLG SF forum still the same?

My guess was the Virtual Phone you put. Wrong guess!
No, I thought about it too. I thought IF the above codes didn’t help, I might have to remove the phone and keep it as a stand alone pop up or something. I remember when I used that last time many years ago. Other consultants were using that phone too, to listen in on conference calls and replays. It was handy. I let other bloggers use it too. Saves on overseas calls or S k y p e calls. Now with all these apps, it still might be useful.

Suggestion – on CLG “Group Chat” instead of just “Group Chat” on the auto-welcome, change it to “CLG Group Chat”. Here at SH we have “SH Chat Forum”.
Okay, I changed it FROM:

Trying to figure out how I designed the comments with avatars and see if we could tweak that onto the chat as well. I know we tested that before, but not sure at which portal we did that at.

Yes, you did the UIX. I think I was at that team too testing it with you. I remember we quit because it was “jumping, and then some logins, had JUST the member’s avatars on ALL the avatars on the chat.
Let’s move to CLG chat, i need to bounce off ideas quicker.
ChristianLifeGroups Chat : Welcome! Chat sessions are automatically erased every 60 minutes. Just select the REFRESH link above to go to the latest chat session. We are glad you are here! CrisW : That was why I put the functionality on the Forum, to have the First Letter of the name to be the Avatar. Consultant : Yes, I remember now when we tested. You and I are both C’s, but only differentiated by the SHADE of the letter CrisW : Yes, I remembered the joke that the Chat looked more confusing with just letters with the name. CrisW : A workaround really, is to just put the “Online Members” on the Forum, ON TOP of the Chat Box on the Sidebar. Consultant : Yes, you said to remove the chat box from the sidebar yesterday. CrisW :Yeahhhhh, I was frustrated. But I fixed it after several hours. It was a code snippet, I realized that since we basically copied codes from the CLG Tech Forum, onto the CLG SF – then I updated the CLG SF Forum to the latest (back then) version, the codes I put on SH CrisW :was not 100% applicable, so I had to check it line by line last night. That’s how we got if fixed. CrisW : Thanks to you reporting the Double Greeting! It started there! Consultant : Yeah, well, if you Password Protect the Forum Page, it really is just visible to those of us who know the password. Consultant : You should write a book, use all of our tech blurbs as raw data. CrisW :Hahaha! Right. CrisW : I was thinking of just making a blog post and then just pointing to specific pages. Consultant : It’s not going to be as bad, we only have a couple of blog posts on SH – Session Dates. Would be good for the Timelines too. For SH. You made one for CLG. CrisW :Yes, I had a dream last night about doing that exactly, just putting it all together. I think I got a huge headache when I viewed the videos I took on my phone of the Tornado aftermath in Onalaska. CrisW : The direction of the SH website changed because of that as I decided to use the blog as a “placeholder” for the people to look at the videos and so that THEY can help as well by going there directly. There were lots of people whom I have spoken to who actually went there as well to help. Consultant : That didn’t get much media attention. CrisW :Yeah, it was April May last year. The height of the lockdown from an “invisible” enemy. CrisW : Tornado debris, in shock people, hurting people not having water or food or electricity IS VISIBLE. CrisW : WAS visible. CrisW : I remember, the people who were so scared of not getting any help who would just run after my Mission Van (because I drove slowly, while taking videos) Consultant : Yes, that was painful to watch. CrisW : All the more that ingrained engraved into MY SOUL that IF we are to help, help DIRECTLY. CrisW : I saw first hand how donations are stored and distributed. CrisW : And some just get “stored”. CrisW : Which was very sad for me to see and notice and realize. Consultant : I remember you said some organization told you they have to move to a “bigger disaster” because the disaster there only affected a certain amount of households. CrisW :YES! Yeah, my jaw dropped to the floor. It’s sad. it seemed like they took photo ops, got donations, and then moved on to the next photo ops. CrisW : That’s why I ended up going there daily for a month. Heck that time, my son was locked down in his apartment too. I was locked down here, but I was a “necessary” weirdo who just drove out with my Mission Van big rig and stuffed it with stuff I could donate directly. Consultant : You weren’t scared of COVID? CrisW : I was more scared of stupidity. It’s a virus, I wrote an article about it and kept it published at SH. CrisW : If I was to get it, I’d much rather do it while helping out. If it was as deadly as the media put it, the FEAR of it caused more deaths. In my family, two died, from heart attacks. A couple of friends did too, but they did because they were frontliners, WHO HAD comorbidities – other conditions that made them vulnerable to it. CrisW : OK, we’re getting sidetracked! LOL! Consultant :HAHAHA! I’ll copy this before it disappears. Consultant : Sidenote, I watched what JP had on their website. Consultant : You basically said the same thing on your old blog before CrisW : What about? Consultant : That writing / journaling is useful to organize your thoughts. CrisW :Yes, look at how unorganized this chat session is! Hahaha! We’re firing up neurotransmitters and bouncing off ideas. CrisW : Then when we focus on coding or studying the code, we get stuff done. CrisW : Not everything is a step by step with people who create the step by step training. ๐ CrisW : We study the clutter and get rid of the clutter and sift what’s important. Consultant : I like the UIX you did to the CLG Chat Box, we haven’t checked if we can add images here. CrisW : Okay, you test it. I’m going to give what Brute suggested a shot. He said Jeff had a contact page we can use. CrisW : So we might be able to use the Job Functionality, and then just have people send or copy paste their resume in text format. Brilliant idea! Consultant :Yeah!!! Well, at least the 6 hours we used test driving the Job App won’t be put to waste! CrisW : Hey copy this now.. we go from there, and test the contact, and merge it with the Job App. Consultant : Cool. We go back to comments and then just ring this bell here. CrisW : I have the Comments Tab open on the back end, I see comments as they come in. CrisW : So just refresh the page often Consultant :Sys would be so angry cleaning up the emails! CrisW : Yes, he is complaining. ๐ CrisW : But that’s what Admins do. I prefer Front End than Back end. But I prefer Face to Face than Front End. CrisW : That’s why I am going to write the Blog Post on Lessons Learned, for all of you to look back to, and copy paste on your own portals. Consultant : I always learn something when we do this! CrisW : Yes, me too! CrisW : OK Let’s go. Please copy paste. CrisW : See ya later. Consultant : Ok
I vote keep it as is. Keep it simple remember?
And I like and prefer what we have here than P2. It’s all here, easier to migrate!
I just thought about this. Before we test the Job App again with the Contact Form… ANY website member can post ANY job, and then the APPLY FOR JOB link, displays the Job Poster’s Email address.
So if we change this to a URL, where the Contact Form is, we would still have to double check the URL, in case others post other external URLs….
OR, we can just create another Forum that has Classified Ads on it.
FOR HIRE, FOR RENT, JOBS. etc.
I can just activate the Private Messaging again. Just thinking out loud here. ๐ I am just having trepidations about exposing email addresses because THAT is a privacy nightmare, and some people don’t really care that much anymore about that, but we do care here. ๐
YES! Simpler! Then maybe we can reactivate the PM too.
My concern is the amount of auto emails this will generate that might be considered spam.
I checked in with SYS, the Comments section is generating a whole lot!
The Forum also generate a lot of auto emails getting sent.

Consultant : You basically said the same thing on your old blog before
CrisW : What about?
Consultant : That writing / journaling is useful to organize your thoughts.
CrisW :Yes, look at how unorganized this chat session is! Hahaha! We’re firing up neurotransmitters and bouncing off ideas.
CrisW : Then when we focus on coding or studying the code, we get stuff done.
CrisW : Not everything is a step by step with people who create the step by step training. ๐
CrisW : We study the clutter and get rid of the clutter and sift what’s important.
CrisW : So just refresh the page often
Consultant :Sys would be so angry cleaning up the emails!
CrisW : Yes, he is complaining. ๐
CrisW : But that’s what Admins do.
Something we can think about and consider.
