  1. Happy New Year!

Today, I decided to scrutinize “codes” and it’s quite upsetting and confusing.

But codes don’t lie. So I scrutinized, and then learned that my “newly created business email” got loaded to a website that I did not personally sign up to. (A website that provides “data on agents and their carriers” … metrics… market outreach …

    Trickery.

So I just clicked the “unsubscribe”, but first removed my name, phone number, so they only have my email. It was done by “another agent” or maybe an assistant of his, but it’s not right. I had to scrutinize how it was “easy to get confused” with the legitimate corporate email.

So because I wrote on “other” (I did not select “report as spam) is because I am giving the benefit of the doubt that they didn’t know any better, that outside of ANY business, there are RULES that need to be followed, so I quoted to them verbatim, the specific rule, and a link to that rule.

I am publishing this here, because I have personally identifiable information (mine and my son’s) that MIGHT get compromised again, so I am documenting it ALL here.

If that agent goes to this website and sees this, this is also a warning that I am not stupid.

And I know the rules and I follow it.

    And so should they.

Reason for unsubscribing to the mailing list: Other:

“I thought it was the f_m_l_f_r_t_i_e DOT com mailing list. After receiving 5 emails yesterday, I started looking at the sourcecodes that the actual “FROM” was originating from c_g_c_u_r_a_.com. (I am in IT and also a developer).

To the list owner, please choose not to be offended, I know not all agents are techies, so, FYI, per FTC Regulation:

“Don’t use false or misleading header information. Your “From,” “To,” “Reply-To,” and routing information – including the originating domain name and email address – must be accurate and identify the person or business who initiated the message.” Source: https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business

Upon researching who “c_g_c_u_r_a_” is …
    LINK TO THE WEBSITE REDACTED

    “Grow Your Agency:
Customize your list to your specific needs and goals. Create targeted lists based on many different factors including: product type, carrier contracts, licensing, geography, propensity to sell, contact information, and more.”

I only signed up thinking it was from thef_m_l_f_r_t_i_e DOT com email blast. Please REMOVE my email address from this list (If I just click the “unsubscribe” all it does is create a tag and a block on my email address, but does not actually remove it from your list. (I am a developer with my own autoresponder system and so I know how autoresponders work).

Please remove ALL of my Personally Identifiable Information from “c_g_c_u_r_a_ WEBSITE REDACTED” – I DID NOT knowingly sign up for that and DO NOT want to be a “targetable agent”. Per their own website statement and what they do, I DO NOT CONSENT in having all of my Personal Information (SSN, State License Number, Beneficiary) information loaded into some other portal that I did not specifically sign up for myself.

Not knowing this from the get-go, is misleading. I just got my State License and I am aware of what I will be expected to do – because of the Risks I would have to personally take. I do not want to be put on ANY website portal, specifically c_g_c_u_r_a_ – I did not sign up for that. I thought I was signing up for THE f_m_l_f_r_t_i_e DOT com website.

This is just constructive suggestion and I hope that you choose not to be offended. (I did not click the “emails are spam and should be reported”, because in most cases, I just click that, instead I typed this note so that the List Owner would know what NOT to do, like add people’s email address in another list, that the email address owner did not specifically know what they were specifically clicking, since the “From” was different from the ACTUAL email originator, because it can be reported as “spam” or “spoof”). It is misleading and confusing. Please ERASE / REMOVE this email address from your list (“delete” only makes it invisible).

    Thank you.

Then on another website, I noticed that a contract with one carrier, was sent to an email address that was specified. Then I took a look at the domain name of the email recipient of my contract, the website does not exist and goes to a 404 page. I took a screenshot. And decided to just email the corporate office email that was specified if help was needed.

The contract emailed to the domain name specified on the Back Office, that has a 404 page, has my SSN, name, address, copy of a voided check, my beneficiary and my son’s details. So I emailed the corporate office, because it is concerning and wanted to confirm if my contract was sent CORRECTLY to the right carrier.

Kinda alarming and red flag for me or for any body.

If I am to “recommend or invite others to that”, this is a very confusing and alarming process. So I thought what brought the confusion? The TOO MANY SPAMMY emails I got.

So I unsubscribed from that and then now just going to be on the corporate email blast and announcements, and hopefully, the one I emailed in the corporate team would respond soon. If not, then I might just have to ask them to NOT send the other contracts to the other 3 carriers.

There is the GDPR rules too, I even have it on this website. Also, ICANN and FTC compliance, requires Income Disclaimers if you are talking big bucks! I learned that many years ago.

So, hopefully things will get clarified. People with Licenses have Licenses to protect. I personally did not get licensed just to get pitched or get put on another website that sells my information on new licensed agents. They did that WITHOUT my consent.

How do you get business partners? Be true and honest. Set expectations. Don’t bait and switch. And FIRST of ALL, follow the rules of decency. Don’t lie to people.

    Happy New Year!

  2. I counted 12 different domains that were sending me emails on that brand new business email that I made that was specifically for the License-related correspondence.

I did that when I HAD to make a separate one, because I initially trusted them with my DART (Disaster Assistance Response Team) – related emails. Then just did the change.

If I get any more spam going forward, I will just REMOVE that email altogether and just make sure I update the State with a new one. That’s too bad that agent is doing that.

We are all INDEPENDENT Contractors. That was just too sneaky. I didn’t and don’t appreciate that.

    Received 23 emails since 12/29/2021.

Anyone who has NOT created a business specific email would not notice, but just get and feel inundated with unsolicited emails that were added to four different domains / lists, because they “deceived” and used the corporate office “From”.
