  1. Got another email from “F_L U_A” with the domain that says, “f_l_s_ DOT com” that says “download the app” that goes to YET another website “f_l-g_ DOT com”.

No thanks. I am an APP Developer and know how all that goes.

FYI, if you, for example, sign up on a FORM on a website, BY LAW (Can SPAM Act, you can look it up, for commercial bulk mailing) – and the domain is for example, “one domain name DOT com”, there has to be a “double-click functionality, to confirm that that specific email address is correct, and LIVE” and that you agree to receive emails FROM that specific LIST at “one domain name DOT com”. And ONLY there.

What seemed to have happened with MY “business specific email address, which I just made SPECIFIC to that business” was my email which I initially agreed to at “one domain name DOT com”, got loaded up to another list, and then once it got loaded, they sent me another activation or confirmation email (using the same FROM name, but having a DIFFERENT domain name. Then another list… lemme count from my notes yesterday .. EIGHT different domain names!

When I studied for the prelicensing, bootcamp, and actually READ the four contracts with the carriers, I know that there are STANDARDS on what is allowed and not allowed.

I also do understand that there are “risks” involved but, in ANY industry, the security of your computer, devices, is of utmost importance. There is HIPAA and HITECH rules that must be followed.

That was why even when I would help clinicians with tech stuff, they had NO idea how to protect their phones, and thought they can use an “app” and share patient info there. All I needed to share and tell them was APPS load your phone contact lists on their servers (outside of your phone, tablet or laptop). Imagine your physical address book getting photocopied. You will never know how that photocopy or duplicate copy would be used. And then also, your contacts did NOT give you permission to share THEIR contact details to anyone. So, example, FB app on your phone. You and your family member are “friends” on FB. But your boss is not. But you have your boss’ cellphone number on your address book. You will get some type of notification (either phone or pop up), that shows something like your boss’ and you are not friends on FB. How did FB know that? (Because you just gave the FB app developer to load up your phone contacts onto their servers. Did your boss know FB is doing that? So you click the button “friend request”. Same thing with all these apps on social media. That’s why and how they know who is online and who is not.

What are apps? They are just mobile websites. So if you need to login for an app, it just would mean that the app and the app developers can know HOW you use their website / app. That’s how they get their metrics.

I think personally, JUST going to the websites themselves is the way to go. You go in, and when done, log out.

Apps also have access to your camera, your microphone, photo library.

So when ANYONE pushes for me to “download an app”, I only have to say I am an app developer and I know how that goes. So that’s a “NO thanks” for me.

The license I got was SO THAT when I help people, I can ALSO tell them about the carriers products because I ALSO get asked that a lot, in my face to face dealings with people.

ALL the risks are on the Licensed Agent, and so I can’t be stupid about JUST signing up on MULTIPLE domains. It has to go through the LENS of what is allowed marketing and advertising practices for ALL industries.

And as far as HEALTH INFORMATION of people, I knew from my Biomedical Informatics background what IS and IS NOT allowed.

I do NOT appreciate that my email address have been put in mailing lists that I did NOT sign up for. (that is called SPAM).

I have always been transparent, and put my notes on here, and NOT on Social Media because those who are important to me are on my phone book and are on the “Signal.org” app, which I trust because it is also trusted by cryptologists and privacy conscious people.

My son said, “Mom just see where it goes”. And I go, “yup, because all I can do is work and look into it and document what I am personally experiencing.” I got “word” that because the other agents are not techies, and so they don’t fix their websites. I completely understand that. But I wanted to also note that some other “agent” is using my email for “pitchfests”, with emails commanding me to “follow them on FB, IG, Like their page, put my number on a Mass Texting service”.

    I am simple.

Why would I “like the page or follow someone I don’t even know?”

    One thing I know.

I don’t like my email address that I created that is “specific” to that project, to be loaded onto some spammer list, that I did not PERSONALLY sign up for.

There are desperate people around, and I do understand marketers would do their strategies with “automation”.

But marketers MUST never lose the truth – behind each email address is a PERSON. They shouldn’t just LOAD people’s email addresses because they got a hold of it from some agent network.

Now I have trepidations about HOW they “capture leads” that agents would pay for.

When I delved on Online Marketing many years ago and paid for that course by the thousands on how to do that – my eyes were opened about how that is done and the darkness some techies go through – and I AM not going to be part of that. If someone is teaching the “best strategy no matter the cost”, uhm … waitaminit! “Do not do unto others what you do not want done unto you.”. So I said my piece and NOT do that, and told them that IS unethical.

That’s why techies like me that are on the “good side” of tech are often targeted. Because we on the “good side” are aware of “how those evil blinded people” who think they can “just do what they do because they know how to do it”.

I do not want to “sear” my conscience by “doing what I was told” by what I know to be an “automated message series” so some software can track my “clicks” and my actions on the email (whether i opened it, forwarded it, it can all be tracked by THAT type of autoresponder software). It’s just disappointing. Even more disappointing is the regular Jane and Joe don’t know that.

When I first looked at it before I started calling last week, to speak and ask questions to someone, I already had an “IDEA” about how the I M O business earns. It’s like an agency, that the owner gets an “override”, from the agents in the entire group. And there can be many different agencies in the group.

Reminds me of MLMs. Upline, downline. A percentage of what the downlines earn. That was the “Informational Products” that I bought before, many years ago, and I learned all that.

But the State License I got, I take that seriously. The Carrier Contracts, I read them all, I take that seriously too. So that would be the PRIORITY, as far as my compliance.

But my thinking cap still IS on, and the question still remains in my mind, how do they earn? From my own observation (their videos, and the pitchfest emails I am getting).

    1) Overrides from commissions,
    2) Then I noticed they have an online store too, which is fine, (the store is in another domain though), and then the other agent ALSO has another store that leads to another domain. (So of I bought any thing from those stores, my email will ALSO get loaded into two other additional domains) … tsk, tsk.
    3) E&O insurance commissions (I got an email telling me to CLICK and get E&O Insurance, sorry, I already have one).
    4) Selling “Leads”.

So that’s from observation. I did some research last night about that “mysterious” activate your account email. (For me technically, that was a “spoof email” – then I noticed that the domain name (I looked into the source codes IN the email itself”) was different from the FROM. So the ACTUAL origin came from a domain which SELLS stuff to Agents and Agencies. Fancy words .. “Business Intelligence”, “Metrics”. (Except in MY case, they DID NOT get my permission!)

I guess that “agent” who loaded my email in his many many mailing lists using different domains thought that was okay.

Just for clarity, it wasn’t the Leader #2, or any of the people that I got in contact with.

I am noting all these because I want to be “forthcoming” to the people who are asking me personally. And I said I am STILL learning and promised I’ll document what I am learning along the way. When I was told that I should “hop on a call, because it will get confusing”, I appreciated that. But I got MORE emails from others that were not mentioned, and so when I called again what that was, the person I called, ALSO did not know. And asked for a screenshot to be emailed. So I did.

If the intention was to confuse, then that was successful. But to ANY domain name owner, (I am an admin of a whole lot of websites) there are responsibilities that are covered and GOVERNED by ICANN Laws.

If a Techies’ or Informatician’s email address gets loaded to ANY mailing list, we know HOW TO dissect codes and can understand what is ACTUALLY being done. So I cannot turn stupid and just be blindly “coachable”.

Read up and research “Truth in Advertising”, “Can SPAM Act”, HIPAA and HITECH Act.

I divulged too much of my own personal information and didn’t realize my email would be loaded in those OTHER mailing lists. Grrr…

And DANG! I got another email from the same autoresponder just now!

Two things I can do, click the “unsubscribe” button, or not.

Or just keep receiving, I can create a “filter and redirect it to another folder” and observe some more.

What actually happens to your email address when you click an autoresponder?

Your email address will be “tagged” with a “block” on it permanently attached. Autoresponder businesses are “Software as a Service” businesses. They have put that in place so their own customers (in this case, the agent who put me in his list, without my permission), CAN NO LONGER send you emails.

Autoresponder Companies give its customers (list owners) the functionality to load mailing lists, (with a condition that permission was given by the people in those lists). Then the customer / list owner can create messages that can be “scheduled” to get sent immediately upon first sign up (like you get an email activation line), and then schedule future messages to get sent at specific time intervals, Message 1 sent immediately, Message 2 sent Day 2 at whatever scheduled time. Like Drip emails.

So what you can do is NOT unsubscribe, because you did not subscribe to that list to begin with. If you click ANYTHING or any link, there will just be the tracking mechanism that will get activated and sent back to the Autoresponder, and then those little data can be aggregated and then the List-owner would see how many times you were “engaged” with the email message. They have a psychology on which “Subject Title” got the most “opens”, and then also there’s the “Click Through Rates”.

So if a list owner has 1,000 people that they are blasting out to people’s email address, the list owner can see how many opened it, deleted it, or engaged with it. THAT IS, if you have your Email Client / or Email Software you use, to RECEIVE HTML messages.

HOWEVER, if you just use TEXT mode to receive your messages, with images automatically blocked, (unless you click and allow it to display), then the software can’t track you UNLESS you click the images or links in the email.

The list owner also PAYS for the number of people they have on their list.

What’s irritating is I just created that email address, and depending on how many other spam emails I get from those other companies, well, I know what to do.

So those people looking at what I am doing, and what I am personally experiencing here, well, this is it.

If I want to market ANY business, I know enough tech that I can ALSO just spend money on my own advertising budget to generate and find the “people” that they call “leads” who are actually looking for something like what I was looking for, that’s how i learned about them, but wanting to actually SPEAK to someone.

It’s enough for me to know who the agency owner would be for this endeavor that would earn from me through overrides. I don’t have to go into another “cult-like” rah rah thing because it IS a distraction.

And while I am writing this, two other spam emails came in.

30 minutes in between of each other.

Nope, I do not recommend anyone signing up for that FREE bootcamp, because those become THE product. I also took a screenshot of a “course” that that guy was selling for $20,000 cash. The agency admin I spoke to said she has NOT seen that and have not known that. So she asked me for a screenshot. It’s going to be the “pitchfests” from that other agent that would scare people away.

Never forget, if you are an Independent Contractor, you are INDEPENDENT.

It’s just too bad I got put in a mailing lists that I did not sign up for. 🙁

The automated “one after the other” email messages, are also because of programming, and AI type stuff.

So if you get sent an activation email to a list you didn’t sign up for, and you didn’t click it, (because I recognized it as SPOOF), I got put in a “sublist” the “NON opens” and “bombard force me to click until I click, or until I buy”… it’s a software program snippet that uses the “IF this THEN that”.

Stuff like that, some techie could be doing, or the task could get passed down to an assistant.

Spamming anyone is not right. I don’t need to get “hyped up about anything”.

I promised my son that if I see anything on this company that would be “IF” – fy … I will not participate.

That’s why I am documenting what I am doing here. 🙂
