  1. ShallHelp Chat Forum : Welcome to the Chat Forum! Chat sessions are automatically erased every 60 minutes. Just select the REFRESH link above to go to the latest chat session. We are glad you are here!
    Consultant : Het
    Consultant : Hey
    CrisW : Hey back
    Consultant :Whats up?
    Consultant : Trip cancelled?
    CrisW : Trip u turn
    Consultant : Good!
    CrisW : lol
CrisW : Will try again tomorrow
CrisW : weather peeps say Monday is the highest probability of no rain.
Consultant : If you are going out there to help, better that you go when weather is “no rain”.
CrisW : Yeah, bec MUD is hard to clean out or off.
    CrisW : the rig
Consultant : Bring lots of water
CrisW : Yeah. So in the mean time, I did some more testing on the job app
CrisW : Did some changes on the categories and filters on the job page.
CrisW : Also I tested the Search Functionality, I put test keywords in.
    Consultant : I noticed.
Consultant : I like “Contract” more the “freelance”
    CrisW : Me too.
CrisW : We can phase that out. Change it to FreeCrisW
    Consultant : lol
Consultant : Create another Test Job for contract. We can test that too.
CrisW : Yes, then I’ll package that to WP Core Install
Consultant : Cool. text me when done so I can test apply.
Consultant : I can copy this. create a test session post.
    CrisW : Cool. Thanks!
Consultant : I also noticed the share buttons don’t appear on the Job Pages
CrisW : Yes, that’s good because applicants put in personal info, so best to not have the share button there.
CrisW : GDPR and all that jazz.
CrisW : Also, that was why I put the Terms there. For job applicants for specific jobs, i put there that all personal data is wiped out and erased in 1 month.
CrisW : I can reduce that also, to when the job is filled.
CrisW : but since we are still testing, I just put it 1 month
Consultant : Can you change the expiry date to yesterday’s date. so we see if the archived past jobs don’t display?
CrisW : Ok, I’ll set the part time to yesterday’s date.
CrisW : copy now? Let’s go!
    Consultant : Ok

  2. DONE.

“Your application has been submitted.” and form has reset to blank.

  3. Received this on my email:

    BODY:

We appreciate your interest in our company and the time that you invested in this application.

    HR Team
    ShallHelp”

  4. HR Receives this via email:

“SUBJECT: New application received for the position Test Contract Job [5079]

Job Opening: Test Contract Job [5079]
    Name: Test Contractjob Jr
    Email: APPLICANT EMAIL REDACTED
    Phone: APPLICANT PHONE REDACTED
    Resume: EXACT URL REDACTED
Cover letter: Dear HR Manager, Testing the cover letter to cover what can be covered in the contract. I am putting some bold and italics codes to see if it displays. Sincerely yours, Test Contractjob Jr”

The Cover Letter field only accepts Text. Which is optimal. It strips off or out all codes. Lesser room for bad codes.

    1. Yes, only on the backend. Which is good. Those in our ban list cannot see our website, therefore cannot apply or abuse our forms. ๐Ÿ™‚

If they try, then I’ll figure out a way to get them to stop and go “granular” and “molecular” on them. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Yes, I’m trimming down my “Admin” duties. ๐Ÿ™‚ When I have to travel, and can’t pass along the tasks to someone who won’t end up hacking it, it’s safer just to keep it under maintenance, or password protect it. ๐Ÿ™‚ People know how to get a hold of me, if they need ASAP stuff.

  6. Seeing these job portals, you can recognize how some job applications can end up just stuck and not viewed.

  7. Yes, if it’s a recruitment agency, they have a database of qualified applicants and it’s easy to see who matches which specific job.

  8. They get a percentage of the candidate’s salary, or they charge a referral fee. Candidates are considered like “inventory”, so depending on the role, if it’s a Direct Hire, or a Temporary or Contract Work (billable hours), the recruitment agency gets paid that way.

When I did a project for a recruitment agency, (which basically sells “resumes”) the
“perks” included salary plus commissions, meaning, if you are referring a Tech Consultant and the rate is $200 / hour, the one “referring” gets $25 commission out of every billable hour of that candidate. At least that was “the promise” – then the broken promise arrived with “no more commissions”. ๐Ÿ™ So, we all can find those types of big companies that break their own rules. So, the turnover is so quick, because one can only guess that they do that to everyone, and when people work as hard as they do to fill those jobs, and then not get paid for those commissions, people just leave.

So companies would much rather avoid recruitment agencies.

That’s why other clients ask me how difficult is it to have a job portal on their own site. That’s why I wanted to test it, and documenting here what I’m finding out.

So they can do that themselves too.

  9. Would you just please put the DONATE button back here? You are dropping BIG nuggets here! I’ll donate!

  10. HR people usually are skilled in HR. But not in tech. That’s why they even pay for SaaS (Software as a Service) – which outsources the Tech part of their HR, like recruitment, for a monthly fee. When all it does is have a “page”, or a “subdomain” on an external website.

Most candidates are not aware that they are submitting their PI’s (Personal Information) on an external website, so they are exposing applicant’s PIs (and future employees) to other companies. Privacy nightmare.

So because of GDPR, people can request for their data to be erased, let’s say for this specific website, but how would an applicant know that they ACTUALLY applied on a different external job website that has the SaaS?

Also, I’ve noticed those “Job Alerts” are also housed in YET another external website. My email “filterer” VA said he clicked “by mistake”, and then found out it WAS another external website.

    Then there’s the “autoresponders” too.

Lots of moving parts on a website.

The other autoresponder that I tried to customize and configure, looked so archaic, it was using php mailer. I just removed it all together because I listened to feedback.

If anything, the “Comments” on a website blog can do the job.

The Forum Subscriptions can also do the job. (social media sites are all just one big forum).

So, you can find those functionalities on e b ay, and am a zon. With their stores, they have a separate installation for their forums or “community”.

The CLG FB Page, there was NO form of advertising done on that whatsoever.

I am an admin also in that page. Last I checked it’s about 500+ followers there and I put verbiage there that we don’t go there, and just provided a link to the website.

I also put an Autoreply message there, because there are people who write the page, and I responded to each and every one of them before. There were those requesting for prayers.

I didn’t want F B to “capture” those prayer requests (and then monetize) the people requesting for those types of prayers.

  11. It’s horrendous when many years ago, someone wanted me to test drive a software and when I saw what it can do (“scrape keywords”) and then target those specific people based on their IDs, it was like I JUST CANNOT even give feedback or be a part of anything like that. When I started blogging and warning people about it, yeah, that was when I started noticing how I became the one targeted. To shut up.

  12. Anyway, so all I can do is WARN.

When people use “alternate” logins, like on their website, “Login using F B” or whatever else, you are ALSO exposing other people in your “friends list” to hackery hackathons.

All these interconnectedness has a lot of dangers too. And so for those people I warn, and then mock me for the warnings, I just ask them to remove my mobile phone and email address from their contact list. and just write down my details in an old school “printed address book”.

Usually those very same people, when they get hacked, remember me that I warned them about it. If techies who are quite privacy conscious can still get hacked, how much more so others, who fail to even look at the “default” general settings of their devices.

  13. There’s a difference between being “negative” and being “aware”.

What app HAS to have access to my phone camera or address book? So, check your General Settings, and Privacy Settings on your phones. You’ll see. ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. I see why you want to type out these things in the Comments! So you advice if I have YT videos, to turn off comments there?

    1. Yes, and always have an alternative upload of your videos. Vi me o also has free video hosting.

So when you save or publish your videos on YT, also make sure you click the advanced settings, because there are software that also scrapes YT videos (steal other people’s videos) and then reupload them on their own channels.

On the Video description, add a backlink on your website, and put verbiage that they can comment on your blog or forum, providing the exact link where your video is embedded.

Then have two video players there YT and Vi meo, so in any event that your YT channel or video gets flagged or shutdown, then you have backup. It’s difficult to go back to every single post to fix those.

That happens. Like a lot. You embed a YT video and then later on find that the video no longer displays.

That’s why in the forum, it has that functionality that I tested – you can upload videos there too, and then it just opens in another tab.

No way to get shut down since it’s in your own portal.

Just copy the settings I set and you should be good too.

  15. Let’s see:

    11) Job Portal

    14) IT Consultants on monthly retainer fees.

And yes, one person put all that together. ๐Ÿ™‚

When we pray for Wisdom, God grants it.

  16. OR, like other people would do, they ask me the same type of questions over and over, and that’s why I just type it out like this.

Anyone who has been reading our tech blurbs here can just follow along and also do it themselves.

That way I don’t have to provide tech support for something that I am NOT selling. ๐Ÿ™‚

If it’s in a paid membership site, the community can also help each other. The membership fee is just to cover basic expenses like webhosting, etc. It will be minimal fee.

Just off the top of my head. ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. I find myself going back to our tech blurbs here and copy code snippets. LOL! I noticed the “keywords”.
